Compare AI agent platforms

Xagent vs Microsoft Copilot Studio

Microsoft Copilot Studio is Microsoft's platform for building agents, workflows and apps, which you publish to Microsoft Copilot, Teams, websites and other channels. Xagent is an AI agent platform where you describe a task in plain language and it writes the plan, runs it with your tools and hands back the result. Xagent has native connectors for Outlook, Teams and OneDrive, and for Google, Meta and LinkedIn too.

Which one fits your team

If your company runs on Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio deserves a serious look. Here is where each one fits.

Choose Microsoft Copilot Studio when

  • Your company runs on Microsoft 365 and Azure, and you want agents built, managed and published from Microsoft's own tools into Microsoft Copilot, Teams and SharePoint.
  • You want a studio where makers design agents in natural language or a graphical interface, then move them through development, test and production with version control and release pipelines.
  • You want Power Platform connectors, models from Azure AI Foundry, and workflows and agents together in one studio.

Choose Xagent when

  • You would rather describe the task and read the plan as cards before it runs, then watch every tool call and result as it happens, with a pause.
  • Your team works across Google, Microsoft, Meta and LinkedIn tools, not only Microsoft 365.
  • You want one workspace plan with a published price and no Azure subscription to link, on Xagent cloud or self-hosted on the Enterprise plan.

How Microsoft Copilot Studio prices

Its pricing page describes Copilot Studio as sold for a whole tenant in capacity packs of 25,000 Copilot Credits at $200.00 a pack a month. You can also use a pay-as-you-go meter billed through Azure with no upfront commitment, or a prepaid plan with a set amount of credits. The page says an Azure subscription is required to use agents on those plans, and it shows no pay-as-you-go rate, so see the page for that.

There is a second route. Microsoft 365 Copilot is $30.00 a user a month, paid yearly, and the page says it includes Copilot Studio for building agents that work inside Microsoft 365. Publishing to outside channels needs a standalone Copilot Studio plan.

A Copilot Credit is used when an agent does a task or writes a response, and the number depends on the task. Its billing documentation says unused credits do not carry over to the next month. Xagent counts users, actions and triggers, and AI credits in a workspace plan. A tenant pack and an Xagent plan are not like for like, so we do not rank them on price.

Full plan details are on the Xagent pricing page.

Moving from Copilot Studio to Xagent

Start with one agent. You can keep the rest in Copilot Studio.

1

Pick one agent you run today

Write what it does, which Microsoft tools it touches and where people use it.

2

Connect Microsoft and anything else

Connect Outlook, Teams and OneDrive with the native Microsoft connectors. Add Google, Meta or LinkedIn the same way, or any other system through an MCP server. Paste the job as a request and read the plan.

3

Save it and run both for a while

Save the result as an agent and add the schedule or trigger. Compare its output with the current agent before you change anything.

Xagent and Microsoft Copilot Studio: frequently asked questions

Is Xagent or Microsoft Copilot Studio better for a Microsoft 365 company?

If you want agents that live inside Microsoft Copilot, Teams and SharePoint and are managed with Microsoft's own admin tools, Copilot Studio is built for that. Xagent suits teams that want to describe a task and see the plan, with Microsoft tools among several they use. Both can run in the same company.

How much does Microsoft Copilot Studio cost?

As of October 2026 Microsoft's page shows capacity packs of 25,000 Copilot Credits at $200.00 a pack a month, a pay-as-you-go meter through Azure, and Microsoft 365 Copilot at $30.00 a user a month. Xagent costs US$59 a month for Pro and US$299 a month for Team.

Does Xagent work with Microsoft 365?

Xagent has native connectors for Outlook, Teams and OneDrive, alongside Google, Meta and LinkedIn. Other systems connect through MCP servers.

Are there Copilot Studio alternatives that start from a plain request?

Xagent does. You describe the task in plain language, it writes the plan as an execution graph and runs it with your tools. Copilot Studio also lets you create agents in natural language, so try the same job in both.

Can I build an agent for my website like Copilot Studio?

Copilot Studio can publish agents to websites, apps and social channels. Xagent agents can be built into your own products through the API, a chat widget and the SDK.

Do I need an Azure subscription?

Microsoft's pricing page says an Azure subscription is required to use agents on its pre-purchase and pay-as-you-go plans. Xagent is sold as a workspace plan, so there is nothing to link.
